Jim, I was aware that there was a movie named Let the Right One In because I read a review of it in a lit review (NYR, I think) soon after it came out. So the review was probably early 2009. There it sat in the back of my mind. In March of this year I saw it on Showtime, set my DVR to record the next showing, bought a streaming version of it from Amazon, and haven't missed a day of watching at least parts of it since. I was hooked by the time Eli jumped down from the jungle gym. I began reading blogs (or blah-gs, it should be) and reviews. In July I stumbled across We, the Infected, and I have been in good company ever since. The forum includes members with deep feelings, with wide experiences of life, and with sharp intellects. Ages range--I think--from 13 to 70. Wolfchild would know. Both genders are well represented, and members live on six of the seven continents.
One thing, though, I haven't read the book. I've gone in a different direction. I looked into learning Swedish to feel closer to the characters. Turns out, it's a lot easier than German--greatly simplified cases and familiar subject-verb-object word order (No offense, TAPETRVE). I just bought a Blu-ray version. Beautiful. And the words are easier to hear, which helps me with the Swedish. My direction is to go deeper into experiencing the film. I read interesting comments here about the book, about LMI, and other goodies, but the film is proving to be a deep well for me, so I continue to drink from it.
So welcome. I look forward to reading more about your experiences with the film, the book, and whatever else LTROI leads you to.
