That was one of my favorite Lacke moments in the book. Sounded like the drunk ramblings of a conspiracy theorist! I had to read it a couple of times to fully understand what he was talking about!

I like to act out scenes from the book, trying to imagine what might have been if some of this had made it onto film.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

Yeah, I hope he doesn't! He is outside barking a lot tonight, so he may be telling them about it!
He may be performing the Twilight Bark. (ba-dum tish...)

But don't worry, the vampire dog won't rip you apart unless you threaten to kill your dog. Your dog will just bite your ear off. That's much better, all things considered.

 I just read this, sorry for the delay! Very true! He loves to act out scenes with me. We do it quite frequently now that I have read the book several more times since then and watched the movie countless times. My dog has become a great actor! He knows his lines well!

Last night our power was out. My sister and I were playing a board game with colored pieces. My mother came in and asked if we could see the colors. I said, Naturally ;) She didn't get the reference so I told her we were vampires. (I should try acting out with my dog and see how she responds!)

I have three cats. Once they were fighting I tried to separate them, and one jumped on my legs. It was kinda like Virginia's scene, but less cats, and they wasn't acting at all ;) I have a few scars on my right leg since then. I guess I don't heal as fast as Virginia...

Ofelia, my dog loves it! He just sit there and listens. He plays the part perfectly! It is hours of fun when you are bored!
J.J. That is funny! I always liked that scene in the movie, even though the CGI was ridiculous. The awful CGI made it better.

I don't think the CGI was awful in the cat scene. It just had the misfortune to appear in a film that was otherwise just about flawless.

On its own, the cat scene is really not too unrealistic or comedic. It's not bad. It's just that when you look at it in comparison with some of the other CGI scenes like the basement scene or the pool scene, well... ;)
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

I do agree with you to a point. I have seen worse CGI scenes in movies, the part that disliked about the cat scene was they made the cats attacking CGI but when the scene shows Lacke and Gosta, you can see Virginia in the background with the toy stuffed cats hanging on her. That is the part took me right out of the scene.

I agree with you that the basement scene, the tongue licking up the blood, was better, CGI wise, because the darkness and shadows hide the majority of the CGI and made it more slightly realistic by showing Eli's animalistic behavior.
