In the past, I've professed my admiration of Johan's score for the film at this forum and now I'm about to do it again

It really is just incredible and full of music I'm envious I didn't compose myself. Wonderfully emotive, gentle and delicate yet powerful and sinister when it needs to be, often simultaneously. It's Johan on top form.
I produced my own version of Eli's Theme a while ago which you guys can hear if you like. I'm afraid I can't offer it as a download though due to a promise. The track may not be online for a huge amount of time either for the same reason. But as we're all fans of the music, I figure letting you guys hear my version in the privacy of this forum is ok. It was a lot of fun to make.

I am having to fight my allegiance to the original Eli's theme to appreciate your take.
Nice interpretation.

While wandering here between posts and FF, I am gradually getting convinced, that I haven't seen anywhere more beautiful madness than on this forum. Clubmeister

I do think the music from the film is a masterpiece and very moving. But for me i wouldnt want to listen to it on its own merit purely because i find it sad and a bit depressing, and music that can do that to me i do not find easy to listen to.

I saw the film on Sky+ in July and immediately ordered the DVD, book and soundtrack. While I agree with Bri that it can be depressing to hear at times, it can also be very uplifting and there are times when I really need to hear it, to remind me of the wonderful scenes in the film.
I still can't believe that I almost let this gem of a film pass me by, in fact, there were one or two times that my thumb hovered over the 'Delete' button on my Sky+ remote control...

i hope TA uses Johan Söderqvist for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, maybe hopefully he will reach a wider audience and win an academy award in the near future. Too bad he was wasn't considered for LTROI. his work definitely stands up there with the greats like john williams, bernard hermann, howard shore, etc.

I agree, his music is very beautiful, unlike anything else I've ever heard.

I loved the entire soundtrack as well. But, the one track that gets my bottom lip quivering and throws any semblance of masculinity out the window for me has to be Eli's theme.

Eli has evidently nommed his heart too!

That is a very nice job, Mono, I'd be proud to have made such an hommage, as well.
God DAMN, that's a strong piece of music!
