Itsy Bitsy
Re: Itsy Bitsy
I just went and downloaded the Kindle version of Itsy Bitsy to my iPhone - for free!
Pretty cool.
Pretty cool.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Actually I quite like the english title, it might even be the first instance where I prefer a foreign title to the original.
And, yep, the swedish title is a quote from Ronja Rövardotter.
With that said I am a bit surprised that they choose this particular story från "Pappersväggar", since I think is the ... least good one. (Can you say that?). But it´s quite simple and effective, so maybe that´s the reason. It almost wrote itself in two or three days, as I remember. It was written before I even had a publisher for Let the right one in.

The song Frank was singing (disregard the intro added by the guy who uploaded to YouTube):
But from the beginning Eli was just Eli. Nothing. Anything. And he is still a mystery to me. John Ajvide Lindqvist

Story starts out really nice, but runs out of steam in the second half. Too bad JAL wasn't sure what to do with the story's conclusion. Needed a good punchline.

I liked it. I thought for awhile that maybe the couple he was trying to photograph had died and he was seeing their ghosts, but as it turned out the story took a much darker turn.
JAL seems to be fascinated by water. Some of what he wrote reminded me of Harbour.

I thought the story it was ok. I am still thinking about how it ended.
