Welcome :)
In the book the entity was something BIG walking on two legs outside the paper wall. From the top of my head heavier than a horse.

Maybe the Castle in the Sky refers to heaven??? Someone else posted here that they had the impression that the boy was grieving.

I have yet to read Paper Walls (because we don't have the English Translation...YET :) August Please Hurry Up  )...but I took it as being a short story about a boy grieving the loss of someone important to him...that was a "Drowning" Nightmare in there right??? Maybe the focus of the short film was all about a boy grieving the loss of someone before finally being met by the entity outside the paper walls...maybe the person who drowned...Would make sense with the ending where John lets the box go

I don't know...Can't wait to get the book to actually read the snapshot story through JAL's own words though...I thought it was kind of an interesting little short, but I have no grounds to compare it to the story its based on considering I have yet to read that book.

Something I noticed from back then also was that the hand on the other side of the "wall" was one of a child's also. Pretty interesting eh? :D

I noticed that too. A lot of room for interpretation here...who's hand was it? Was it his mother's,
was it his own hand reaching out from the "other" side? Was it something else? Any ideas?

One one of another child? Why was a child alone in the woods at night? ;)
