English Release Date
Re: English Release Date
Nightrider, I ordered my copy of Little Star from Amazon.co.uk on September 12. I got an e-mail the following day saying it had been dispatched and my estimated arrival time was the 23-28th. Then I got a second e-mail like 2 days later saying It would arrive in early october. But then it showed up yesterday? I'm not complaining.

Re: English Release Date
Well my copy is now officially in Australia...I just have to wait for it to be delivered to my door step
I'm so thrilled, pumped and excited for this book...just the synopsis alone has me excited as all hell for it
So far if I had to rank the novels, (which I don't even necessarily like doing) here is how they rank
Let the Right One In - Of course still to this day my favourite of Lindqvist's work that I've read for so many personal reasons
Harbour - The history of the fictional island Domaro alone is fantastically crafted by Lindqvist...I like the characters, especially Simon and Anna Greta who I really liked in that novel, I love the twisted humor (the elderly sex scene for one and even then that's lovingly described as opposed to just being mocked for humor sake). I also feel its the most matured of his novels that I've read...the emotional core story is strong and I think its one of the best things Lindqvist has done thus far.
Handling the Undead - An interesting idea that I think is one of those times where the idea was interesting in theory but hard to execute. I don't hate Handling, I like it and I like the ideas behind it....but I have trouble warming up to it. Its the one Lindqvist book that I have some trouble warming up to...although I did think the story of Mahler and his grandson was emotionally involving.
John Lindqvist, if you do happen to read this post by chance, then I must say I'm still very intrigued to see how the film adaption of Handling the Undead will go...I love the idea behind Handling the Undead and am really interested in that one in particular with regards to the possible film adaptation.
Anyways I'm rambling...but yeah, I'm really excited to dig into Little Star...knowing its almost at my door step is very comforting

...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Anyways I'm glad I still have to work through most of JAL's backcatalog so I don't have to wait for Little Star. Damn I need more freetime ...
Re: English Release Date
Both of mine were delivered today at work . Gave one to my daughter (who also works here and is mildly infected) for her birthday, briefly considered taking the rest of the day off, but....<sigh> no one bought the "But I'm Infected" excuse.
We never stop reading, although every book comes to an end, just as we never stop living, although death is certain. (Roberto Bolaño)
