Casting is important, but not as important as the story and the script. Ultimately, it's the format of the project that's really going to make the difference. Movie or miniseies. Is it going to be a Swedish production or an international effort. Once again, HARBOUR has a potential to be a really great film....as long as the producers will not succumb to the lowest common denominator and turn the whole affair into a Stephen King type potboiler.

I loved this book.It could really be a very chilling movie if they found the right director and actors. To play Anders i think Jeremy Irons would be excellent as he has a face which already looks like its hiding much sorrow and pain.

Jeremy Irons would be great, about 30 years ago. At 63, I could see him playing the role of Simon opposite Helen MIrren (already suggested here) as Anna-Greta.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

Out of all recent works by JAL, Harbour is the best suited to be turned into a movie.
Irons is a bit old for the role of Anders. Elsewhere above i mentioned the actors who
would be perfect as the principal players. I still think those choices would be spot on.

Yes,you're both right with regards to his age.I guess time has crept up on him and my memorys of his acting are from couple decades ago.

I do still think Harbour is worthy of being turned into a movie. It was one of them books which kept me going back to reread certain parts because i enjoyed them so much.LTROI is another.
