I don't like the tag line, but the cover itself isn't so bad, though the US and esp. the Aussie covers are better.Nightrider wrote:
Just arrived today from merry old England...Cover sucks, but I don't care....Had to read it now!

Whoever approved the final version of UK cover must be nuts...Tag line is awful as well, but I guess it's necessary these days so the readers will know which genre they're enjoying this week...Cover or no cover, I simply loved reading this novel...lombano wrote:I don't like the tag line, but the cover itself isn't so bad, though the US and esp. the Aussie covers are better.

Now that I'm done with "Harbour" I need moore....can't wait 'till October for US release of "Little Star" and ...who knows..."Paper Walls" in the near future.Nightrider wrote:Just finished "Harbour" 10 minutes ago...7-20-11. Took me about a week and a half...Nightrider wrote:Been reading this since Monday...Can't put it down...So good.
What a trip it has been...Beautiful story wrapped in magic...Funny, scary and heartbreaking...I did not want it to end....
The happy ending was a cherry on top....

I also enjoyed Harbour (I have the same paperback), and am looking forward to reading Little Star. I suppose eventually I'll own every book JAL authored that has been translated into English!

October 11... my birthday. And I just found out there was a J.A. Lindqvist in my family a few generations ago. Interesting these coincidences...
Re: In US Bookstores on Oct 11
I just finished Harbor as well. It only took me 4 days . I had to import it from the UK to the states due to my utter lack of patience lol. I might pick up the stateside version as well though. The cover makes alot of sense if you've finished the story before

Was it really a Happy Ending? Considering the Destruction he causes in order to get her back from the Other side??? It was great that Anders got her back in the end, but I don't know if it was necessarily an overly Happy Ending...or maybe I'm overthinking these things Maybe I can't let go of LTROi and want that bittersweet ending all the timeThe happy ending was a cherry on top....

Anders got his daughter back against all odds and I think it was a happy ending for him. Maja's and Anders' lives are saved, which up until the very end of the book I did not think would happen. Sure, there was destruction and some deaths, but given the "magic" quality of their world I'm sure something good will come out of it.Was it really a Happy Ending? And there's nothing wrong with overthinking books and plots. That's what they are there for.

Not only that, but it looks as though Anders will be able to get back with Cecilia as well. Simon and Anna-Greta are safely off the island. Things really could not have turned out much better for him. I'd say that for Anders, it was like playing a country-western song backwards: He got his truck back, his woman back, and his dog came home.Nightrider wrote:Anders got his daughter back against all odds and I think it was a happy ending for him. ...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Am I the only one who did not want this book to end? Once again, I've read tons of negative feedback about "Harbour" , but I had a great time reading it.Wolfchild wrote:Not only that, but it looks as though Anders will be able to get back with Cecilia as well. I totally "got" the novel, bonded with the characters and seriously wanted it to go on and on ...and on ....and on...
