I agree. I've never understood how the old woman face fit in because Eli was never an old woman. I'm sure TA had something in mind with it, but it eludes me. If he wanted to use it so the viewer gets that Eli's really an old old 12-year-old, he and JAL could have worked it so she just tells Oskar that she's more than 200 years old.

Me, I would have just left it as, "I am 12 years old, although I have been for a very long time." That was enough to give me chills when I first saw the scene at the glass door.
