@jameron, I have a serrated pumpkin-carving knife. After seeing the carving set you posted, I can see why I've had luck with VERY SIMPLE designs. For me, the Eli design would surely require sophisticated tools.

I've never carved a pumpkin in my life, but I know a few Americans that swear by the Dremel, it's quicker and much more accurate than hand carving, so I'm told.

No complicated tools are required...All one needs is a kitchen knife and imagination. Look what it did for Norman Bates!

Since i live in a mainly white furnished flat like Patrick Bateman it will work for me
But...
...Its not nearly as expensive nor so "80ies" like his flat

Re: Eli Jack o'Lantern Stencil
So i finaly made it to the market again and i got myself a pumpkin for carving
And thanks to CyberGhostfaces stencil and all your good tips it was really a lot of fun!
So i made a few photos for you guys, i hope you like it.
First i got all the stuff set up nicely
I even had that big Psycho kitchenknife and to be honest i'm really glad that i didn't accidently stabed myself these things are tough to cut open
But i did it and it looked superscary inside... I didn't expect such a creepy filling
so i transferd the stencil on the pumpkin and cut it out with the dremel-tool.
And this is the finished Eli Jack o'Lantern

Way to go, Daniel! I think you should show it to your nieces.
