My dear friends - Part 9 is up. I hope you enjoy hanging out with our murderous munchkins as much as I did while I was writing this part.

The back and forth between the detectives is very effective. It shows not only how the logical path they need to follow to find the 'perps' evolves, but the subtle misdirection by Constantin. Good stuff.

All good news -- I restored the headings so part 9 would be easier to read.

No one commented on it, so I'll tell you -- Quimet Garcia is based on a former Italian soccer player in Copenhagen. He was asked to take over an Italian class in a community center.

If this sounds familiar, then you saw the delightful film, Italian for Beginners. Quimet Garcia is an homage to the soccer player and to the film, one of my favorites.

Second good news -- Part 10 concludes Set Me as a Seal upon Your Heart. After I put in the html codes for italics and boldface, I will submit it to be moderated.

For those who have followed the story for the more than the two years it took to write, I want you to know how much I have appreciated your comments, PMs, and emails. Several members have served as a small writing group that helped keep me on track. And even suggested and contributed content at times. You couldn't buy the dear friends that I have become so close to on our wonderful forum.

Above all, I have had our two vampire munchkins to hang out with.

But every silver lining must have its dark cloud. I have no plans to go forward with Book 3.

I'd forgotten how close Per had come to discovering all. I especially liked the line: "The next morning, glad to be on the plane back to Stockholm, Per thinks of one question he wishes he had asked—How did Constantin know about the shopping bags?" A perfect parting of the ways.

He was soooo close. You could actually get him even closer in Book 3. ;) And in it, you could ponder the perfect fork in the road: When he finds them, will they befriend him, or eat him?

You could even involve them all in the separatist movement in Catalonia. Since they're both immortal, you could fast-forward to the present, where the two of them could be directly involved in the present movement. (If you dare.)

Therefore, I hereby challenge you to bring them into the present. They could take computer lessons. Have Facebook accounts. I also think cell phones could be very useful in their profession... And with artificial blood on the horizon (sans magic, of course), they could quietly slip more easily into the mainstream and disappear ... perhaps into "The City in a Forest?"
