"Hey do you want to learn my friend here how to kiss?"
Please, tell meee XD
I'd love to know too. Because I actually can't begin to imagine what Eli could have said to a relatively young woman (younger than Oskar's mom) that would entice her to kiss a 12-year old boy, a complete stranger, on the lips.

The method by which our Oskar and Eli pick up languanges though; very clever. I've wondered myself what it would be like if I could perhaps listen to a beautiful piece of music the same way the composer could hear it. This fits in nicely with that idea. Learning the language along with all its emotional and connotational nuances.

Sorry, I can't tell you, I don't speak German. :D
However, imagine these two sweet innocent pre-adolescent kids walking up to you, hand in hand, the apparent girl asking something like what intrige suggests, woman to woman and with an utterly serious face, would't you just melt?

For those non-scandinavians wondering what all this is about, check the Wikipedia article about the Norwegian language.
Generally, as a non-Norwegian, I think nynorsk is a little strange.

It's a mess. Nynorsk was aiming to bridge the wide variety of spoken dialects in Norway. A very difficult task, and it ended up as something in between everything.
