Re: The Hunters
I just realized this morning what a terrible predicament I've put Dave in. He's the only one with a wife and kids to think about.
Re: The Hunters
You've left me breathless.
Thanks for that. I really was quite fond of Tom.Tom began to groan again. But this time, Dave heard articulation, muffled and thick. Two words, barely intelligible, from the burning mouth.
"I'm . . . sorry."

Re: The Hunters
I believe this is the first time you've ever announced the end of a chapter.a_contemplative_life wrote:Tom's demise & the end of Chapter 12.
But you've written so many I could be wrong.

Re: The Hunters
Poor Tom. At least he did apologize. What else can a fellow do when his misdeeds catch up with him? I hope Eli and Jed aren't found out, but knowing acl, I don't think he will make it easy for them.

Of course, I was fond of Maria, too. ACL = AHB, or so they say.

And anyway, you have to write what you have to write. IIRC, you first applied the epithet AHB to yourself, after rubbing out Maria; evidently it cost you dear, but then we know that sometimes the Muse is harsh.

Eli throws a tantrum, but doesn't get very far. http://let-the-right-one-in.com/fancont ... s-chp-xiii
Sometimes my Eli makes me laugh.

Re: The Hunters
I love it! Eli throwing a temper tantrum. Now that's a first! And Jed calling his bluff. It's probably been a long time since Eli hasn't gotten his way, at least with anyone who know the possible consequences of his anger. I'm really enjoying this!

Re: The Hunters
The temper tantrum was quite the superb touch.....Lets you still see the child side of Eli.
Death changes everything, sweeps everything away. Even mistakes.
Re: The Hunters
I like the temper tantrum also. Petty 12 year old "do it my way".
I also like the reality of the situation where they know the police will/might figure out what happened, and they are facing the facts.
Even so, I can still see Eli's point. He thinks disaster follows him everywhere (maybe rightly so ).
One of my favorite quotes from Eli in the book similar to "Why can't I ever have what I want" (can't find the exact quote).
