I liked the slow, elegiac tone, suitably tragic. I also find I'm glad your Eli has a new companion on the dark path.

That was really good. We don't know for sure why Oskar and Eli split up, or what his life was like after they did. But Eli did occasionally observe Oskar unbeknownst to him, and perhaps she was pleased by what she saw. Perhaps his life as an adult was much happier.

Maybe, just maybe, Eli's tears were really for Eli.

You just may have inadvertently committed yourself to filling us in on the time Oskar and Eli did spend together. Don't leave out ANY details.
You may begin now.

Also, do you think that soon after Elias met Kayla, that Kayla may have asked Elias to go steady and be her boyfriend, and Elias had to reply, "Kayla, I'm not a boy."

Great job

Excellent

Outstanding

and

thanks.......

I was fine until I got to the part where Eli pulled out the Morse Code and the Cube. Then it was all downhill . . .

Well, we don't know what Eli was wearing when they met, or who asked who out, so for all we know it was 'Kayla, do you want to go steady? Wait, don't look at me like that, I'm not actually a girl...'
