While I could have a lot of snarky fun musing about what picks would result from the most trendy pop zeitgeist, and while I know you are a fool if you take the Academy Awards to be any true measure of a film's worth, I have to say that Richard Jenkins is my hands down favorite for Best Supporting Actor. He is consistently awesome, and indeed was awesome in The Shape of Water.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.
