eclipse

Post by gkmoberg1 » Mon Aug 21, 2017 6:02 pm

There is an eclipse today in the U.S. At the moment it is 20% coverage where I am; this will rise to about 60% at peak for my location. The peak, for where I am located, should occur in about 45 minutes.

I'll try get a couple pictures and post them. :D

Btw, if I've ever considered a fan fic wherein our tiny duo make a "broad daylight" getaway by using the moment of an eclipse, wellllll it is clear that unless the lighting drastically changes, such an escape simply wouldn't work. Too much sunlight remains.

What we're doing is looking at the shadow of the eclipse by using a pair of binoculars , letting the light pass through and onto a large sheet of paper.

Hmmm. Looks like tinypic.com is having some issues at the moment. I have two pics and will edit this later so that you can see them.

There's an advantage to our morning fog when we need to take advantage of a partial solar eclipse (74%) to take photos. :D

And during a break in the fog (through the trusty family colander:

Caught the very first part of it - then it was obscured by some clouds, and then it rained! Rats!

The colander! What a stroke!

We watched it here under a perfectly blue sky. 8-)

I forgot about the eclipse, but did get the chance to see one a long time ago when I was 13.

(Likely the most appropriate use of sunglasses ever)

By "we", what he means, folks, is the set up a webcam from his backyard down to the basement so that the kids, who'd stayed up all day waiting, could watch.
