Review: I Am Behind You, John Ajvide Lindqvist

Sue Green - Stuff - 9/18/16
From the moment Isabelle Sundberg wakes and looks out the caravan window it's clear this won't end well.

But then, the name John Ajvide Lindqvist on the cover is enough to presage a grim and gory time for model Isabelle, her ex-footballer husband Peter and their six-year-old daughter Molly, along with the occupants of the three other caravans remaining where yesterday a camping ground stood.

Lindqvist is synonymous with horror. Think Let the Right One In, his bestseller adapted into a Swedish film and English-language version called Let Me In, from zombies to vampires with Handling the Undead and three more spine tinglers followed.

Now comes the first in a trilogy; horror, definitely, and undoubtedly creepy, but there is no straightforward answer to even the fundamental questions: 'what is this about?' and 'what does it mean?'
