Some day I would like to go to Seal Island in False Bay, Africa and see great white sharks. I have been fascinated by sharks ever since 1975.

I don't like sharks. They are stupid and they way they look gives me the chills. All teeth, not brain. But I love these guys:

Sharks are a part of their diet. They are particularly fond of shark liver. I have seen them in the wild too.

I have often remarked that some many things in LTROI are so ambiguous that is like a mirror: When people try to fill in the blanks, they end up filling them in with themselves.

Then you might want to visit this cemetery, in Halsa, North Western Norway:

This is the burial place of Keiko, the orca star in the Free Willy films *snif*.

Would not have wanted to be the gravedigger for that one.

Nah, it was a local road constructor and farmer who did the job.
A rather sad story this. If memory serves, Keiko was "reintroduced" to freedom in after being a zoo pet and film star for several years. Keiko swam straight east until he stopped at the shoreline, remaining in Norwegian waters close to people his remaining year and a half. He was used to people, and became a local pet orca until his death. Probably what he wanted. A TV program was made about this, watching Keiko never really being able to make contact with wild orca packs passing, liken him with a pet dog vs a wolf pack.

Same here, and for probably the same reasons ;)

But that's the point!

"You know the thing about a shark, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces."

Orcas are also amazing animals. Here we have Península Valdés, a popular place for whale spotting, and of course for watching killer whales in action. Nearly every documentary on orcas features this place and the whales' unique hunting method of suddenly lurching forward and grabbing seals and sea lions right from the shore at the risk of their own lives (by the way, if you like nature and still haven't watched Planet Earth or Life, what are you waiting for? :) ).

Only "transient Orcas" eat seals. "Resident Orcas" only eat fish (including sharks) and they even become friends with other mammals.
