Re: ART!
A few days ago i heard for the first time about Caitlin Hackett. She is a young but in my opinion incredible talented artist living in New York right now. Her pictures are hauntingly beautiful but sometimes at the same time highly disturbing and nightmarish.
I was a instand fan maybe you will anjoy it

I'm so afraid that this type of art may be in danger of extinction, along with printed books.

These are awesome... Never heard of this Artist befor. I think its highly possible that Vania Zouravliov took some inspiration from Ivan Bilibins picturesNightrider wrote:Ivan Bilibin(1876 – 1942) Russian artist known for his beautiful illustrations of fairy tales and legends.
(caution... maybe disturbing, so not safe for work)

Re: ART!
There used to be a shop in London which sold mostly Russian books and records and some from other Eastern bloc countries. I suspect it was subsidised in some way because it closed soon after the demise of the Soviet Union.
I bought some rather slim fairy tale stories there. Each has a cover similar to this one and there is an illustration by Bilibin opposite each page of text. All of the pictures Nightrider posted appear in them.
