Re: LTROI Written By George Lucas

Hey? Anyone feel like trying to shoe-horn Let the Right One In into the traditional Joseph Campbell Mono-myth (or Hero's Journey, depending on what you want to call it)? That would literally be LTROI written by George Lucas, as all of his films follow that formula pretty rigidly...

Re: About Let me in

To quote Mark Kermode:
Let The Right One In is a story about growing up, which just happens to have vampires in it. Let Me In is a vampire movie which just happens to have children in it.

Mark Kermode's Film of the Year

Re: The virus is curable.

I'm cured. I'm just hanging around because I like the very profound and thoughtful community here. Don't get me wrong, Let the Right One In makes my list of top 5 books and films, but I'm not (totally) obsessed with it anymore.

But he was beaten and jailed fro fondling a boy while drunk, according to the novel. Plus (again according to the novel) when Eli first approached he automatically put his hand on his (Eli's) thigh and said something to the effect of how he "couldn't afford a beauty like you" but maybe when his fin...

Re: Does LTROI Have A Happy Ending?

All life is bittersweet. What goes up must come down.

Somebody once wrote that beauty is beautiful precisely because it is mortal, nothing beautiful lasts forever. That's part of what makes it beautiful.

Re: Eli as Peter Pan

There's a lot of similarities, almost all stories can be shoehorned into one or two categories so similarities are always going to be there. There's the old idea that there are no new ideas, only rehashing of old ones (very cynical). However, I don't think that LTROI parallels Peter Pan much. Oskar ...
