Hey? Anyone feel like trying to shoe-horn Let the Right One In into the traditional Joseph Campbell Mono-myth (or Hero's Journey, depending on what you want to call it)? That would literally be LTROI written by George Lucas, as all of his films follow that formula pretty rigidly...

To quote Mark Kermode:
Let The Right One In is a story about growing up, which just happens to have vampires in it. Let Me In is a vampire movie which just happens to have children in it.

What do you guys think?

Metaphorically, it's a death and rebirth.

A wonderful reinvention of vampire mythology ... there hadn't been much Swedish vampire mythology before then ... it's a vampire movie that's not about sex :o ... I saw the film and went back and read the book, there are things in the book that are specifically taken out of the film to give the fil...

Somebody once wrote that beauty is beautiful precisely because it is mortal, nothing beautiful lasts forever. That's part of what makes it beautiful.

There's a lot of similarities, almost all stories can be shoehorned into one or two categories so similarities are always going to be there. There's the old idea that there are no new ideas, only rehashing of old ones (very cynical). However, I don't think that LTROI parallels Peter Pan much. Oskar ...
