Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

I love the cover art Ordfront uses for the paperbacks, although my copy of LDRKI has the movie poster on the front. I've been thinking about ordering the other version as well. I normally put in an order with Bokus every 2 - 3 months, so maybe we can work something out???? How many books are you mi...

Re: Little Great Ending

".....she was about to throw herself at me when the train master called out that my train had arrived. I think that saved me."
(You might want to add a spoiler warning to the thread title, so we can discuss LTODD without having to use those annoying spoiler cover up thingies. :D)

Re: Little Great Ending

So Stefan owes his life to the efficiency of Statens Järnvägar, - his return train arriving on time.
If that was here in Sydney, he'd be stone cold before it arrived. :D

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

After the final pool scene, the question of why Oskar decides to leave is purely academic. He can hardly stay in Blackeberg after the pool massacre. Perhaps the thought passed his mind of how the hell he was going to explain Eli, not that anyone would believe him anyway. Only Karin had doubts about ...

Re: Second Installment(:

Yep. I find myself in complete agreement once again. There's really not enough in LTODD to make a feature film. It is perhaps possible, but to pad it out would necessitate such massive changes it would do the original a huge disservice. Nor would it be commercially viable to make a film, based on an...

Re: Second Installment(:

I completely agree. To me what made the film so incredible was the ending. Snap. :D Many viewers thought the ending was in some way disappointing. To me it was the perfect way to end the story and a big part of why I loved the film/novel so much. Eli and Oskar leaving together was the whole point f...

Re: Second Installment(:

We do seem very different, us infected. The ending for me was how I thought it should have ended.
As the film's characters are portrayed dealing (fighting) with uncertainty, doubt, inconclusiveness, it seems only right that we are left feeling the same.

Re: LET THE OLD DREAMS DIE

Are non-English speakers aware that the phrase "Once Bitten" is part of a common English-language idiom? Just wondering. :)

Re: Second Installment(:

LTODD into a film?
I see a problem in that it's only some 30 pages long. It would have to be a "short film", without some padding out.
I do love it though. All the characters are so rich and believable.
