Re: LTODD: The Loss of Innocence (Spoilers!)

I had actually thought of comparing Oskar and Eli to Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate . However, after looking into it a little bit, I quickly came to the conclusion that it was a shallow comparison, as I believe the comparison to Bonnie & Clyde to be as well. The two outlaw couples were n...

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

I don't like the thought of Eli changing Oskar is staying true to the Eli of LTODD at all. It's lovely to think of them together for eternity when you don't think of what is involved with the curse Eli is inflicted with and knows and dislikes only too well. I think that LTODD is a quick fix by JAL ...

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

You've cleared that up for me. I wasn't aware that JAL had published two collections of short stories, and the title of one of them being the same as the title of the story of greatest interest to most was a bit confusing.

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

In going with Eli Oskar had completely rejected society and normal life. Hardly surprising, given how society had rejected him. I see the bullies not as personal enemies but as representatives of society as a whole, there would always be those who treated Oskar like that, and precious few, if any, t...

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

Not sure about this. Oskar and Eli had not had good experiences of adults, including adult vampires. I think they were doing just fine together.

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

Eli didn't bite Oskar. No she didn't, but what is your point? Are you quoting something or someone? Sorry for being so crytpic. It was a response to the suggestion that the young vampires would not turn the oldies because of the taste of Stephan's blood, cancer flavoured and laced with morphine as ...

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

This leaves no doubt in my mind that LTROI is a coming of age tale. Oskar had burnt his bridges, and made some big decisions.

Re: Thoughts about Let The Old Dreams Die !!!SPOILERS!!!

I'm glad that's how it went. A while ago I thought it was the only continuation that made sense. I'll probably have to wait a while for the English edition.

Re: Epilogue question

My order is still being processed, but I'm looking forward to it. Having encountered a few great films lately (with LTROI being foremost) I've decided to actually study cinema a bit to gain a greater appreciation of the artform.
