Re: Tommy being written out of the film
Eli's reckoning with Tommy in the basement is wonderful, Hakan or no Hakan. But it depends on Eli being cold towards his victims (he's only doing this for Oskar), and in the Swedish film, there's that eye-rolling scene where Eli looks up at the moon, makes puppy-dog eyes, and silently goes, "why? Wh...

Re: Interview with Producer of LTROI TV Series Jeff Davis
As long as they don't gut the queer out of Eli like the movies, it'll be okay.

Re: My Take on LMI: Silence Speaks Louder
In particular, he ruins the "would you still like me if I wasn't a girl" and the "will you be my girlfriend" scenes. Those are two of the most charming scenes in LMI (particularly the one where he hugs her after she succumbs to not!bulimia). I'm guessing he wants to completely avoid the back story ...

Re: Boy or Girl?
Shameful, but expected. Thanks. Edited to add: I don't mean to piss on a play I haven't seen, nor do I think that every adaptation of the novel needs to have Eli be a castrated boy. But when every ...... adaptation makes him a girl, it starts to grate-especially since the material in the novel begs ...

Boy or Girl?
I looked, people. I really did. But short of buying and reading the script, I can't find out whether the play lets Eli remain a boy. So what's up?
I did glean that Eli gives his name as Elias, but is that the beginning and end of it?

Re: Do you think that Reeve denied us the chance to "love" A
If you liked Moretz, you'll love Abby. No different than Lina. Abby is a "rescuer." She's not like Eli, who himself/herself needs to be "rescued." She's drawn to boys like Owen and Thomas because they need someone to heal them, and she actually has the power (and the empathy) needed to do this. But ...

Re: Let the Right One In vs. Let Me In
2. I preferred the choice of having Abby and Owen entering puberty, having a flirtatious relationship, rather than the sex-less one of Oscar and Eli. This is a personal preference only. Sneaking into a boy's bedroom in the middle of the night and spooning with him naked isn't sexless. Not in the Am...

Re: Let me in ... what i liked about it
I found the subtle changes of the dynamics and interplay between Owen and Abby (as opposed to Oscar and Eli) made it a genuinely different tale, but one to which I simply felt more attuned. Tell me more about this. I agree that the dynamic between Owen and Abby is very different to the dynamic betw...

Re: The Films' Couples are Inversions of Each Other
If you think Oskar isnt damaged because he isnt always on the verge of tears I say thats sad because I think he IS damaged or on the verge of being. I feel LTROI is saying something because Oskar like many of us when depressed or stressed, HAS found an outlet for his frustrations. The problem is th...

Re: The Films' Couples are Inversions of Each Other
There seems to be some confusion. Eli : Abby | Owen : Oskar.. Duh. Well, obviously. My point is that LMI flips the roles of the kids in the relationship , not their literal roles in the story. Owen goes through all the plot points Oskar does and Abby's a vampire just like Eli, but Oskar and Abby bot...
