Re: Hanging on Oskar's Window Ledge
In the sleepover scene, Eli appears at Oskar's window and taps on the glass, asking to come in. I can't figure out how on earth she's hanging on out there. Any ideas? I've heard hare-brained ideas involving wingless flight, some of the more serious being some kind of levitation and some of the more...

Halfway behind the Iron Curtain
On the behind the scenes, Tomas Alfredson says, "This is set in nineteen eighty two, and that was quite a different society in Sweden compared to today. Sweden was half-way behind the iron curtain in the sixties and seventies." I was wondering if any of the Swedes on this board, or people with knowl...

Re: Deleted scenes
Yeah, that was pretty gross. That was the only one of the deleted scenes I could have done without!TigerEyes wrote:I think you probably are. I couldn' stand the sight of it. lol.the_value_of_x wrote:I liked the scene with Virginia vomiting, but I think I'm the only one.

Re: Deleted scenes
Yeah, it's beyond me too, DMt. I'm hoping that maybe someday they will re-relase the DVD with added features, like the whole film with deleted scenes included back in. Intrige, wow, you have the scene memorized perfectly! It's such an emotional scene, and they are both so good in it, as they are thr...

Deleted scenes
I know I'm late to the game here, but I just saw the deleted scenes for the first time. That one of Oskar and Eli fighting, and the aftermath, made me tear up! God, what a fantastic movie this is. It just keeps getting better the more I watch! I wish I could somehow incorporate the deleted scenes ba...

Re: Why can Eli enter the school basement?
It wasn't the school basement, but the basement in Eli and Oskar's apartment house, so in a sense it was also Eli's premises - hence no invitation. In the dvd comments, I think they mentioned the invitation to the hospital was an erratic panic action. It was arranged for in a hurry (it is JAL's voi...

Re: Why can Eli enter the school basement?
I just realized that she also enters without being invited in the last "pool scene" in which she saves Oskar. Clearly I need to brush up on my vampire rules! Maybe his distress was in itself an invitation? Or does the rule actually apply to homes/dwelling places only?

Why can Eli enter the school basement?
It occurred to me that the only time that we see Eli enter a room into which she hasn't been explicitly invited is when Oskar takes her to the school basement. Are we to assume that Oskar did invite her in there, off camera? All the other times that she goes into a building, be it a home or otherwis...
