Re: Bath of Blood

There are a lot of elements of the novel that would have been just too much for the screen. This is also true of every Stephen King novel I've read that has been made into a movie. He and Kubrick had a long standing feud over the movie as it took so many licenses with the book. But it made for a gre...

Re: Does anyone here owns the movie Blu-ray disc?

I hate those crappy plastic cases that CDs and DVDs come in. I have broken many trying to get them to click off that spool in the middle. I've also had them shipped to me broken because they've come off that spindle in shipping. You'd think after all the years these have been around that someone wou...

Re: Inspired directing or brilliant acting?

The more I see this movie, the more struck I am by the direction. There are scenes where Liandersson simply doesn't look like a child anymore. but that are probably not digitally enhanced. I'd also read that they were fed their lines on the fly with no knowledge of what was coming. In the DVD versio...

How the author views Eli's gender - DVD with author comments

I'm enjoying a copy of the movie that has both Alfredson and Lindqvist's commentary. I'm struck by how Lindqvist switches pronouns when referring to Eli, very fluidly shifting from "him" to "her" and back again, which I suppose is a good lesson in how we view the movie and read the book. This is a t...

Re: LET THE RIGHT ONE IN stage production in TEXAS!

Wow! Practically my backyard. Any time I hear about stage productions of this book/movie, I always wonder what the do with the natatorium massacre (or if they deal with it at all.) I guess I'm going to have to go find out!

Re: Love

Reading the book, I had some questions about who was doing the speaking on occasion and to whom.

Re: Tiny goof

I just received a copy of the DVD from Momentum Pictures that is a much better print than the Magnet release, but also has running commentary from Alfredson and Lindqvist. Alfredson talks about leaving the take in where they step on each other's lines (first meeting) because the rest of the take was...

Re: Love

Lindqvist does omit "said Eli" and "said Hakan" (examples) at times. I found myself wondering who was speaking a couple of times in the book.
