The Rubik's Cube

That boy is going out there again. He is alone. Get closer. What is he doing there? Smell him. Smell his blood. No, I just want to see what he is doing. So hungry.

Get closer. Let him hear me coming so he is not scared. Why is he alone? Doesn't he have any friends? Get above him - on the jungle gym. I kind of like him. Maybe I should find somebody else. There is nobody else. So hungry. No, not him.

"So you're back..."

Smell his blood. No! Not him! I should go somewhere else. Nowhere else. He is here. Feed. Now.

Oskar: "So you're back."

So hungry. Why are you back out here? Why aren't you in your home where it is safe? Oh, it hurts to be so hungry.

"I want to be left alone."

Oskar: "So do I."

Keep talking to him. He will relax. No. Go home. Get away!

"Then go home."

Oskar: "You go home, I've lived here way longer than you."

Do you think you're being funny? You won't think its funny in a minute if you don't leave. No, it's too late for him. Now - almost time. He is busy with... What is that? It makes a strange noise. Is it a game?

"What's that?"

Don't talk to him anymore. He will turn around.

Oskar: "This? It's a Rubik's cube."

Right there under the skin on his neck, behind the scarf. The blood is there. Tear it open... Oh cool! It's a puzzle!

"Is it some kind of puzzle?"

Oskar: "Yeah..."

I can fall on him, crush him down. Cover his mouth with my left hand while...

Oskar: "Want to try?"

No! He turned around. He will see me coming. It doesn't matter. He can't stop me. But how does it work? Does it come apart? Feed. Fee...

Oskar: "You can give it back tomorrow."

No. You don't want to see me tomorrow. Smell the blood! You never want to see me again. You may never see anyone again.

"I might not be here tomorrow."

Don't try to be nice to me. Reach for the toy and then grab his hand. Pull him up in the air before he can do anything.

Oskar: "The day after, then. But that's it."

I can drag him over to the wall before anyone can see... I've never seen a puzzle like that before. Forget the toy. Blood! What could it hurt have a look? I can give it back after... After killing him. No - after I look at it. It'll be no big deal.

Oh, it's very light. What do the colors mean? So hungr... Does it open? Smell his bloo... How does it work?

"How do you do it?"

Oskar: "You want each side to be a solid color."

Now! He is not looking... A solid color? Oh, all nine squares the same.

Oskar: "Like this..."

He turned it? Enough! Must feed n... Wait, what did he do?

He twisted like... this? Oh I see. Hungry! The whole bottom part spins. How could you make it work like that without it coming apart? So this side is all white... Then this side will have to be all blue...

Oskar: "You smell funny."

What? I what? Yeah, I guess I probably do. Does it bother you? You smell good. Young blood always smells so good.. No! The puzzle! How do I get the blue edge piece up here? Twisting it on this side moves it there, but then that messes up the white side that is done. Hmm...

Oskar: "Aren't you cold?"

Maybe if I twist here, and then top and bottom, hungry I can move the white piece over here out the way...

"No."

Then twist back and get the blue piece right, now twist here and hungry get the white piece back...

Oskar: "Why not?"

So the blue/orange piece goes there...

"l guess I've forgotten how."

The blue/red piece Red like blood. His blood. It would taste so good... CONCENTRATE! THE BLUE/RED PIECE HAS TO GO ON THIS SIDE. But how do I get it there without messing up this one?

Oskar: "See you tomorrow."

No! He is leaving. I can still... Yes, leave! Quickly!

"Mmmmm..."

He is gone. I still have to eat. Oh, I'm so hungry! Why did I come talk to him when I'm so hungry?. HUUNNNGGGRYYY!!. Find someone else. Yes, but at least it won't be him.
